kitchen success!

I am officially a cook! Well at least I declare myself as one. Not a professional one, but in my home I am! Like I blogged before, my main reciepe go-to website is The Pioneer Woman and now I'm venturing out on to my own experiementations. Its quite exciting! Tonight: Enchiladas stuffed with chicken, chilis, olives, cheese. Anyways, I know it might mean nothing to you but it is success within the walls of my own home! And that, is something I think I am allowed to brag about.

Other than that, I started a new job! Well not new, but my old job. I got it back, and it's a call center at a healthcare company. I love it there! Such nice people but yet a professional atmosphere. I must say, it's very nice to be back having 2 incomes.. and to actually be tired when I go to bed at night from a long days work!

And last night Aaron was up building a dresser for us! Its not quite finished but he did a great job!

change-up

I'm trying to switch it up a little in the kitchen - My latest obsession is The Pioneer Woman, and she is the ULTIMATE mom/chef/writer... Google her, she will blow your mind. In a matter of about 3 days I read every single blog post she has written ever since 2007. That includes posts about her travels, book writing, receipes, family, homeschool, cattle ranching, pets, books, etc... basically EVERYTHING in her life! Anyway, her receipes are so easy, so delicious, and so fun. I havn't tried everything on her menu, but the ones that I have have been YUMMY! That includes the Beef/Bean Burrito, Pasta alla Marbolo Man, Super Sonic Breakfast Burrito. The next on my checklist is Dump Cake - basically a pineapple cherry cobbler and monkey muffins. Well, I strongly encourage you all to check out her site - once you see it you're hooked, guarenteed. This woman is MY kind of woman.

OK, so lately, my kitchen has been so bleak, so empty, so nothing... Not to blame the fact that I was sick for 4 weeks and am now getting back into my rhythum again and also my kitchen is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller and less prettier then the one I had in Idaho.... its weird how your mood changes when your kitchen is messy and not ready to cook in and somewhat ugly. I just avoid it all together.. sometimes days at a time!

So... without further ado I promise to cook in my kitchen delicious meals for breakfast - lunch - and dinner! Maybe not every single day, but at least once a day. I need to be more 'homemade', more 'mom-ish'. And if this is what it takes, so be it. Plus, my husband is much more happier with a good meal in his belly (don't we all agree with that!)

HERE'S TO GOOD FOOD!

The leaves are changing...

I can honestly say (at least this year) that Fall is my favorite time of year! It's just to bad I live in beautiful sunny southern california where there really only is nice spring and hot summer weather all year round, with occasional rainy days falling inbetween November and February. Anyways, I am very very excited for the upcoming holidays. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! Bam, Bam, Bam! 3 in a row! Isn't it great :)

In other exciting news... The Kyiv (Kiev) Ukraine Temple was dedicated on August 29, 2010! Aaron served his mission for the Church there from November 2004-2006, so he's really excited when we go to visit Ukraine (one day...) that there will be the temple! Its serves 11 countries, I think. If the members in Ukraine wanted to go to the temple they had to travel to the Freiberg, Germany one but this one is now so much closer for them! horray!

And here are some cute pictures of my hubby on his mission in Ukraine! He was a great missionary!

I also hope you all had a great Labor Day!! Aaron and I's started out with some furniture shopping. We wanted to see what kind of deals we could find on a nice Bed Set, and an entertainment center. Needless to say, we didn't buy anything but we're hoping the ones we really liked will be on sale for the "day after thanksgiving" sale. Black Friday? is that what thats called? idk. So after that just did a little shopping and convinced my hubby to buy us some tennis rackets so we can play at our complex court! Once we got home we headed straight there and played for a LONG half hour! haha, we need to practice. Badly. But it was fun! Then we went to Uncle Charlie's for some yummy Lucille's BBQ and watched the Boise State football game! Plus it's always fun when Gma and Gpa Antis are in town :) We love them.

Three Cheers to Fall, Change, and Family! May September be a month you always enjoy and remember. I know it will be for me!
